Next meeting, Monday, May 15, 2017

2017-05-15 19:30
2017-05-15 21:30

The meeting on Monday on May 15, 2017 will be the Annual General Meeting and elections of the board for the next term. We will also be discussing the Banquet on June 5, 2017. And we will be asking what you would like to see in the meetings next year. Let us know what you would like to see in next years meetings.

We will be having Paul Zago from Photo Medi Decor speak to us on what you can do with your images rather than having them sit on your computer hard drive. You could have them printed on plexi - Sleek and ultra modern, showcase your photo as if it is embedded into a glass-like surface. Or have them printed on aluminum or wood or artistic paper.

Update to Monday, May 1st meeting

The meeting is at the Keats Way School. As part of the presentation, Stephan Orlanda wants to do something at Waterloo Park. The Highland Glen Club meeting part will adjourn when the presentation ends at the school. He may invite people to join him at the Waterloo Park to do some shooting much as we would do if we were going out and asked if anyone would like to join us. So, the school part may end earlier if the gym is not available.

On another note, the following meeting after this will be the Annual General Meeting and elections for the new Board of Directors for the next term. As it stands now we are down two board members. With a smaller number of members on the board, it is difficult to get decisions made on running the club. At the last board meeting, we did not have enough for a quorum so we did not get a vote on items on the agenda. I will bring them up before the presentation on Monday evening. We do need nominations for Directors at Large and for Vice President. Without a board of directors, we do not have a camera club.

CCC2017 offers special April pricing

Until April 30th, any CAPA member planning to attend Canadian Camera Conference (CCC2017) will be able to apply a promo code to save $30 when registering for the full conference. That brings your RA rate to just $330 + HST for the full event from June 28th to 30th, which includes the Trade Show on the first day and Canada Wild on the final evening.
Unsure about attending? Years ago, these CAPA events were called “Canadian Camera College” and focused on teaching skills. But as we all know, if you want to learn something these days, just check YouTube. And that’s not what CCCs are all about. Past attendees attest to the fun they’ve had, and to the inspirational, immersive nature of the experience. You’ll get to learn from and interact directly with some of the top professionals in the business, be inspired by their images and experiences. Expect to come away from the conference re-energized and enthused about your own photography, with many new friends and contacts across the country.
Act now – or at least before April 30th. Go to www.ccc2017.ca and click “Buy Ticket”. Before checkout, you’ll be asked for a promo code. Enter the following, as shown: PROMO CODE ONT NCR
