This year's Stag and Swan will be Tuesday, March 7th. at the Gallery Stratford, 54 Romeo Street South, Stratford, ON; doors open about 7pm, proceedings will begin at 7:30 pm. We should do well; I saw some great images in the selection process!

Everyone is encouraged to come and watch the judging and partake of the usually delicious nibblies provided by the Stratford Club. If you contributed images - come see how they fared, if you have never seen an image competition before - this is a friendly introduction.

See you there

Canadian Raptor Centre Outing

From Ben Eby:

I hope you enjoyed our morning last Saturday, and don’t mind me reaching out! If you would like to join the Facebook group, please connect me and I’ll add you to room.

I have been able to secure April 2 for the Canadian Raptor Centre. The cost for this workshop is $75.00, which is slightly more than Mountsberg, but is a 3 hour long session. I’m told we can expect to photograph 5-6 birds in flight, and 4-5 portraits. I have attended this venue in the past, and highly recommend it to anyone looking to photograph raptors in flight. I also found there was opportunity to photograph some of these birds in thier enclosures. As per the Mountsberg workshop, John and I will be there to guide you should you need any assistance, or wish discuss and further any aspects of your work. If possible, could you please let me know ASAP if you are planning to attend, as I would like to offer the spaces to this group first. I have attached a workshop outline sheet.

Feb 6 Members Night Workshop

2017-02-08 09:02

Thanks to all who participated in the Feb 6 workshop night. I have posted a couple of water drop photos to the HGCC group on flickr.
I am looking for some feed back..... As you know, there is another workshop night coming up on March 6. Would you like if I bring in the same setup, the water drop setup, or try to come up with something different.
Some feed back that I did get last Monday night, was that the setup could only really accommodate 1 camera in the prime location. The rest of the cameras had to deal with a non ideal background... I did try to limit the time that individual had in the prime spot, I hope that I was successful in doing this and that everybody got something that they liked.
I have a couple of ideas that I hope will make the group experience better.
I would love to bring in the bursting water balloon set up, but it will likely be to sloppy. Maybe later in the year when we can go outside.

So my question is. More water drops or something else?
